| PS3 UK Release date moves to March 2007... |
news from Sony :
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced that it would revise the launch date of its PLAYSTATION® 3 computer entertainment system in the PAL territories of Europe, Russia, Middle East, Africa and Australasia from 17th November 2006, as previously announced to March 2007.
Launch dates for Japan and North America will remain the same, which are November 11th and November 17th respectively.
The delay has mainly been caused by the mass production schedule of the blue laser diode within the Sony Group – a crucial component of the SP3 console.
6 million units of the PS3 console are expected to be sold within 2007.
So not in time for xmas, sort of guessed this tbh anyways, but ut2007 wont be the lauch title anymore i suspect ! :(

Epic developer Steve Polge, let it slip about the planned beta Demo on the Epic forums which will be available way before launch with the idea of getting feedback into the final release version...

We currently have well over 40 maps in development. Some of those may be cut, but you should expect UT 2007 to ship with a comparable number of maps to past UT releases (UT2004, which had two games worth of maps excepted).
We are definitely planning to release a demo long enough before we go gold to be able to incorporate feedback from the demo into our final release.
like i said ages back we might see it before xmas i hope !!

There's a nice new video available, showing lots of action and some footage of the new vehicles and gametype. Although it's available in both high & low resolutions you really need to feast your eyes on the 111MB version to see it in it's full glory.

Also, UT2k7.de have some cool pictures of a 15 foot tall Malcolm statue, which is on show at the Leipzig convention. Hopefully there will be some new screens and stuff to come from the convention in the coming days

Eric Nylund: In my capacity as writer at Microsoft Game Studios, I started working with Epic’s lead designer, Cliff Bleszinski, about two years ago shaping his ideas into a compelling game narrative.
FiringSquad: Gears of War is a darker story than the Halo saga. How did you collaborate with Epic to get the kind of tone they wanted for the storyline?
Eric Nylund: Cliff Bleszinski always had in mind for this to be a dark piece. My role on GEARS was more along the lines of helping to shape that tone, the characters, and the setting into the best story it could be.

ArcadiaVincennes, spokesperson for the Ultimate Community Map Pack series, had this to say in a forum post:
On July 31st, the article at BeyondUnreal about UT2007 arriving in 2007 got the UCMP team thinking. Neurons fired and, as we talked about it more, seratonin levels rose. The eventual result was that this news stirred the UCMP design glands into a small, but contained, firey frenzy.
The UCMP team has decided to leap, with frothing, wild-haired abandon, into the breach once more. We have seduced a few new members into our desperate design ranks and have begun work on one... last... UT2004... Mappack.
We had three mappacks in us, and here comes the fourth. From whence it comes no one knows, but the scaffolds are up and the tarps flutter in the wind.
For now, however, that is all.
And it is enough.

The Red faction inspired ut2004 MOD Modwars has finally been released. Sporting all the regular gametypes Dm, Tdm, Ctf & VCtf also loads of new weapons & vehicles plus the usual bot pathed maps & support..
Im going to lock and load with this and kick some ass, anyone up for trying this with me post in the thread etc.
