| GTA IV - Delayed till 2008 !! |
Rocktstar's big Christmas hope Grand Theft Auto IV has been delayed until April 2008 at the earliest, the developer has announced.
The game was due to be released this October on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but the firm claims it now needs more time to complete the title.
In an official statement, founder of Rocktstar Games Sam Houser said: "The new consoles are allowing us to create the Grand Theft Auto game we always dreamed about."

Some insight into the game so far on the PC and the devlopment process and update content etc and basically the differences over the xbox360 version...

One of the games that will be available exclusively for PlayStation 3 this fall is Midway Games and Epic Games Unreal Tournament 3.
Sony showed a short video clip of the game during its press conference on four giant high definition movie screens.
The announcement was the second major one for Epic, which is based in Raleigh, at the E3 shpw. On Tuesday night, Epic unveiled plans for a PC version of its hot-selling “Gears of War.”
As part of the deal with Sony, Epic is working with the company to enable Unreal Engine 3 technology to harness the full power of the PS3 processor. According to Mark Rein, vice president and co-founder of Epic Games, the deal closed just 10 minutes before Jack Tretton, president of Sony Computer Entertainment America, took the stage.
Rein told me that a PC game will ship this fall as well, but that console makers don’t consider PC a platform. In addition, he said Epic will release an Xbox 360 version of the game some time next year.

"Gears of War, the most high profile UE3 title, was developed and tweaked for the ATI Xenos architecture in the Xbox 360, but the creators of the engine, it seems, have been working closely with Nvidia for its first outing on the PC. This isn't really a big surprise - UT2004 was heavily branded with Nvidia logos.
So if you want the best out of Unreal Engine 3, it seems like you're going to need to be running Vista with an 8800. As Theo said, expect this to be a majorly popular benchmark - but with the release date still to be set in stone, don't hold your breath."

the interview is quite good and has some depth, nice to see there working well on making this multi-platform...
Mark : If you use UE3, one shouldn't be more difficult than the other. They're different architectures with different bang for the buck. Xbox works one way and PlayStation works the other, but we've managed to get our engine [running]. We showed UT3 here on PlayStation 3 today and we've managed to get our engine to run well on both systems. Obviously we did Xbox 360 first because of [Gears] and now we're doing that same optimization effort for PS3. People that license our technology, it's not a big issue for them. They are going to have to write some native code, so they're going to have to learn to use each system... but for the most part from the content side and getting gameplay up and running and AI and things that we provide, we insulate you from that.
