Eurogamer Quized Mark yet again recently at GDC about Gears 2 & UT3....
Mark Rein: Yeah, we're happy with how it's done. We sure as heck didn't pick the best time in the world to ship it. It was shooter heaven and we're up against five shooters with much larger marketing budgets than we had. So I'm not sure that was the greatest idea, but when it comes out of the oven you want to serve it hot, so...
But no, we're really happy - the PlayStation 3 version's done really well, the PC version's done okay too, you saw their numbers and it's not bad shipments. We're doing well and we're making improvements to the game too. We've got the mod stuff and there's tons of cool mods, and that's really starting to take off, especially on the PlayStation 3, so what can we do to make mods easier to find, to have a bit of a community, so that's one of the improvements we want to do - to bring a mod browser right into the game. We have a whole bunch of ideas. We're working on an update for the game right now. We shipped a really good game and we're going to make it better.
if only they had put as much effort into UT3 as they did Gears of War !
Bazzwano has released CTF-Safeguard for UT3, a fine remake of a popular custom UT level. More information and links can be found in the release thread and a few pics can be seen below to show you what's in store. Great work and a great choice for a remake!
The second patch for Unreal Tournament 3 has finally been released. This patch fixes several major server-side issues, in particular downloading of custom content between maps, as well as several other issues such as the flying Scavenger exploit, the Shaped Charge destroying an unlinked node exploit, and the Leviathan Rocket Turret exploit.
The third installment for Xbox is about to hit the shelves next month on the 25th September, so watch out this is going to massive on Xbox Live !
Lets hope i can get a 360 by then, XLeague.tv is sporting matches at the moment with the new Halo 3 Demo, featuring Team Slayer, Slayer and CTF matches etc. If you havent cought up with the action on XLeague then turn to channel 279 on SkyTV.

ESL get foot in the door with Midway and UT3 demo...
Seems ESL will be sponsering some matches using the demo at the Leipzig Games Convention, where a number of high end machines are ready for players and Mark Rein himself will be playing (thats tempting too many UT fans to pwn him). read about what Mark has to say on the UT3 forums.
The convention takes place from 23rd to 26th August. Looks like ye olde Clanbase missed out as usual lol.
